Okay answering the question I was pretty adamant about putting it in public view. It also may clear some things out via Magolor’s and Marx’s relationship in Nextgen. I will be listing each thing as I go.

I have never experienced unrequited love outside of platonic family. I was the kid that basically got banned from normality and others so if anyone here understands like more please add your two cents.

One.

I feel that this person and perhaps more people misread Marx and Magolor’s relationship in this AU. Marxolor is not a thing, and it won’t ever be a thing for obvious reasons. Magolor and Marx are best friends tied at the hip and aren’t afraid of being open about that fact. I don’t think I’ve mentioned it here yet but in discord I’ve brought up a few times how Magolor has had a crush on every dude in dreamland except Marx who he wants to keep very good friends with no matter what. So not gay lovers, just gay best friends.

“Magolors treatment of his feelings feels insulting due to the fact it hits home”

I can understand relating to someone who has come to the realization their close friend has someone else they have to put attention to, which causes platonic unrequited love which in turn makes them somewhat victim in the situation (if platonic unrequited love is even a real thing). But, and this is a heavy but since I may be misreading this.

Magolor is not written to be the victim in this.

Magolor is written to be an asshat.

He openly looks to break up the relationship and harasses both sides because he openly and purely believes that Castella is using Marx for Malicious reasons just like how he and Marx used Kirby. Does he also do this because he doesn’t get to spend as much time with his best friend? Yes this is mentioned as much as his suspicion of Castella. Does he grow from this? Yes! He realizes his mistakes and makes up for it. We all love positive character development. Does it exactly excuse his behavior? Not really.

The “humor” comes from character interaction. Marx who doesn’t really understand why Magolor is like this and is a bit oblivious but also doesn’t pay mind to it because it’s his best friend. And Magolor being way overly paranoid, and trying to get Marx to understand things his way from his own experiences. I don’t really think it’s “haha look at this guy how miserable he is” and more “wow this guy is kinda overreacting in an eccentric way and needs to realize his paranoia is not needed”.

If you are going through such feelings so badly that stuff like this reminds you of harsher times. It’s best to just move on from me. Unfollow, block, do whatever until you feel confident enough to come back. Health is more important than some rando artist’s posts.

If anyone else has a different viewpoint feel free to add on via reblog or comments or whatever. This whole topic is like a curveball for me and I went to others to understand but at the same time I obviously have more to understand and learn.

Favorite thing about him: Even above the shockingly complex and indepth redemption arc or the wardrobe designed to allow him to cry in front of people without them seeing it or the fact that he calls kirby a cool dude my favourite thing about him is his fuckign ears

Least favourite thing about him: capes are hard to draw :(

Favourite line: Do I have to say an actual line or can I mention the part at the end of magolor epilogue where he starts sobbing in front of the portal to the dream kingdom. Either way my answer is the haircut line when you piss him off

YES. THIS RIGHT HERE! It seems almost crazy that no one mentions this in the Kirby Franchise. Especially since the first one applies to Metadede. In Kirby Fighters 2, Meta Knight was being just a great pal and helping Dedede. I understood why some would assume that "sworn partners" made them a couple and that their bond "grew deeper", but can't we same for let's say, Kirby and Bandana Dee? Magolor and Gooey? Their bond literally grows and from their perspective, they should also be a couple since their bond was stronger than Dedede and Meta Knight. The worse part is that they act out of character! Meta Knight or Dedede may just blush for no apparent reason and just smooch the other one, or Meta Knight will blush for no reason when Dedede comes to him. And Marxolor doesn't make sense for the same reason. "Vague information about said characters makes them in love" And I'm not going to dive in Kirby x Meta Knight. "B-But in the manga their around the same age!" But that's the manga, not the game canon. And that makes the ship creepy from that standpoint.

At the least, do it like Jojo-Schmo's Kirby Role swap comic. She turned the ship into a wholesome one. Or dapped-spiders where they turned the Kirbandee ship into a wholesome one as well. But at the end of the day, anyone can do what they want as long as it's not causing problems.

shipping in theory is such a nice concept on paper but it has two annoying extremes.

either there will be one popular ship that has objectively nothing wrong with it, but it will get so popular that fanbase will gaslight itself into it being the status-quo of those characters and franchise as a whole which leads to some. frustrating consequences

or people will just ship fucking kids with adults. for some reason. and this will be also popular, for some reason! especially in japan. and people will be like "oh there are no stated ages" and will totally ignore that kid character in question is minor-coded either way.

like is it so hard to just. adore cute couples without making it extensively annoying OR creepy? is it really that difficult?

first headcanon that pops into my head: he used to work as dedede’s court jester before being kicked out. which was his last straw in terms of his plan getting enacted.

favourite line: “It was all according to my perfect little plan!” While his line in Super Star is GOOD, the way it’s rewritten in Ultra is EXCELLENT. He just sounds so proud and mischievous all at once and it’s so excellent.

Thank you for the ask! ...Which is why I owe you by asking the same! Talk about the Kirby series! (If you haven't been asked already!) If you have, then Marx for 003. (Your pick, honestly!)

Ah, I had processed this completely wrong upon initially reading it and somehow skimmed over the first part! I might come back to this later and do that as well sometime, but I spent too long on what I have and am itching to share it! So, for now...

003 - Marx

How I feel about this character: Absolutely awful little man (endearing). Easily one of my favorite characters from the series! He has so much potential, and I love getting to see all the different interpretations people have of him! I’d be happy to go into more detail about my personal ideas if people are curious (though focused questions might get a quicker response out of me), but I’m having a difficult time keeping this relatively concise as it is!

Any/All the people I ship romantically with this character: I’m a big fan of Marxolor, if it wasn’t already clear! They have so much in common (including but not limited to the similar things they have gone through; I feel like they’d be able to support each other with that), and of course there are the heavy implications of their friendship canonically!

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: For this, I’d probably have to say Gryll! I headcanon the two as having a sibling sort of relationship, and I think they’d just get along very well! I have a collection of old headcanons I’m working on reworking, perhaps someday I’ll write something about it. I also recently discovered I wasn’t the only one with this headcanon, which was certainly a pleasant surprise!

My unpopular opinion about this character: I’d say my unpopular opinion was that I dislike the interpretation of Marx being rather unintelligent (like, c’mon, he’s canonically very cunning) and just outright cruel, but I’ve seen a lot of people saying the same thing as of late! While he’s certainly a little shit, Marx is far from being evil. The worst he would do would probably be something along the lines of, like, setting off a huge explosion of super fine glitter at an important ceremony. He doesn’t strike me as a malicious type, he’s just very mischievous (and would get a kick out of seeing Meta Knight try to pretend there still wasn’t glitter stuck in the small crevices of his mask weeks later)!

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Oh man, what wouldn’t I want to happen? For one of the oldest characters in the series, he barely has any screen time, or attention given to him in general! As I mentioned earlier, he has so much potential as a character, yet we barely know anything about him! All that aside, however, I wish we could see more of him just… hanging out and interacting with the other characters. Oh, and I’d love to see him actually directly interact with Magolor in the games for once, of course!

Favorite friendship for this character: Aside from Magolor and Gryll, I think a friendship between him and Daroach would be neat! It doesn’t have any canon backing whatsoever and entirely stems from shenanigans some friends and I had gotten up to years ago, but just hear me out for a minute. A couple of troublemakers that form a sort of unsteady alliance and general tolerance of each other after some time that slowly leads to them hanging out more often and eventually becoming inseparable. I feel like Daroach would win over Marx with offerings of food and adventure, and in turn Marx would gift Daroach with shiny trinkets and small valuables he had picked up over the years. What can I say— I’m a sucker for nostalgia, and thinking about the conversations about them I had with my friends brings back good feelings, haha!

My crossover ship: I don’t really have one..? Platonically, however, I think Marx would get along well with Jevil, Dimentio, and even Joka! Just a bunch of jesters getting up to mischief!

- if i could boil my marx’s personality down it would be this: extraordinary intelligent and calculating, funny ( obviously ), a huge nerd, and not really in touch with his emotions. he’s workin on the last part of it as of star alllies and afterwards.

- i ship marxolor pretty hard, but i am also a multi shipper. marxochilly and marx x gryll ( sorry i don’t know their ship name ;o; ) are really nice ships too. marxolor is just my go to ship with marx

- speaking of marxolor, the two of them just work really well off one another n are super sweet. i hc magolor finding marx adrift in space after the events of super star. the two stuck together for a long while sharing their combined nerdy interests about ancient artifacts and such

- when magolor wanted to go to halcandra after the master crown marx parted ways with him and flew himself back to popstar. he didnt want to potentially be apart of some plot. he learnt his lesson after super star. him and magolor reunite after return to dreamland though :)

- @indieflower-r hope you dont mind that i mentioned you, but your completely right marx has adhd brain. he stims by bouncing on his ball and by bouncing/skipping around in general

- im indecisive if marx would take the place of nova or not since he did absorb nova’s powers. i give a hesitant no to him taking nova’s place, though the idea is really fun to play around with.

- marx is kinda inherently immortal through nova’s powers. his rate of aging is significantly slowed, though that isnt much of a problem since almost everyone in the kirby series lives super long.

- marx likes to use his newfound powers for comedic hijinks, after which hilarity ensues

- how could i miss one of my biggest hcs onghggh my marx is a noddy that broke out of the norm because fuck sleeping lmao. for real tho, he left the natural noddy lifestyle behind as a young child to follow his ambitions and dreams ( not the sleep kind )

- because of him dejecting noddy lifestyle, his sleep schedule is shit. he never sleeps as much as he should, and nova’s powers only amplified this. he can hardly sleep

When it comes to ships, I only really ship SuZan and Marxolor. The reasons why can be a different post, otherwise this will get extra long. However, I adore writing different character dynamics and imagining different scenarios. If you can think hard enough about the inner workings of a character, you can find chemistry between almost ANY characters. Not even necessarily in the shipping regard!! I only mentioned it at the start because that's a good example!

Like uhhhh. I don't ship Taranzalor, but of course I can picture the friendly and flattering Taranza sounding a little flirty with his compliments and, in response, Magolor copies his tone and flirts back, causing ranza to just Disintegrate from how flustered he is.

I haven't read the pupupu hero manga and I still am physically unable to make "Magolor, who has a clear fondness and admiration for Chilly, offers to let him rule the world at his side, and is brought to tears when he is rejected" not sound gay!

Trying to come up with more examples and I'm only now realizing how many Magolor ships there are!

Taranza and Zan with the shared elements of giving everything for their leaders! Daroach and Magolor with the AMAZING cat and mouse pun and rival-thief dynamic potential! Taranza and Susie with the former showing the latter about the worth of life and growing flowers with her! None of these examples even mentioned romance, they could be platonic or Not!

For more platonic examples with more than two characters? Kirby, Bandan, Dedede and Meta Knight all went on this huge adventure together, think of all the conflicts and compliments and little shenanigans that happened along the way! Picture the dynamics between the Waves! Gooey is Dark Matter and the mage sisters worship those guys! The Animal Friends picking fun of Susie out of spite for the mechanization! Dark Meta Knight being surprised every time someone doesn't act like the version of them that exists in the mirror world! Adeleine hugging and holding all her adorable little orb friends because they're adorable soft little orbs!!!!!!!!

The way characters interact with each other is so so so much fun. That's like one of the best parts of writing. It's so good.
